History Of Marine Bank and Trust

Marine Bank and Trust was established on May 1, 1920, originally named Marine Trust Company of Carthage. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes in ownership and structure. On June 25, 1973, the bank modified its trust powers to limited status. It underwent a significant rebranding on January 1, 2005, changing its name to Marine Bank and Trust, and that same year, on October 11, the main office was relocated to 410 Buchanan Street in Carthage, Illinois. In November 2006, Marine Bank and Trust expanded its footprint by acquiring two banks: Security State Bank of Hamilton in Hamilton, Illinois on November 1, and State Bank of Augusta in Augusta, Illinois on November 4. Ultimately, on November 11, 2016, Marine Bank and Trust merged with United Community Bank, based in Chatham, Illinois, marking the end of its independent operations.
