Marine Bank

Marine Bank was established on September 4, 1970, under the original name Peoples National Bank of Springfield. In 1988, the bank underwent a series of changes, including a name change to Peoples Bank of Springfield and a shift to state chartering, while simultaneously withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The institution adopted the name Marine Bank, Springfield on November 1, 1993. Over the years, it expanded its operations, moving its main office to 3050 West Wabash Avenue in Springfield, Illinois, on November 3, 1995. The bank transitioned its trust powers from limited to full on June 11, 1996. In subsequent years, Marine Bank continued its growth through acquisitions, notably acquiring Schuyler State Bank in Rushville, Illinois, on October 4, 2013. The bank rebranded itself simply as Marine Bank on January 28, 2010. Ultimately, on June 9, 2023, Marine Bank merged with Morton Community Bank, based in Morton, Illinois, marking the end of its independent operations.
