History Of Main Street Bank
Main Street Bank, originally established as Wayne Savings and Loan Company in 1899, has undergone several significant transformations throughout its history. The institution changed its organization type to Stock Savings & Loan on June 23, 1993, and subsequently moved its main office to 151 North Market Street in Wooster, Ohio. Following this transition, on October 10, 1997, it adopted the name Wayne Savings Community Bank. Over the next few years, the institution expanded its operations through acquisitions, including Village Savings Bank, F.S.B. in North Canton, Ohio, on September 30, 2003, and Stebbins National Bank of Creston in Creston, Ohio, on June 1, 2004. On January 11, 2011, the bank changed its trust powers from full to none and shifted its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The organization achieved further reclassification on September 9, 2017, when it became a commercial bank and changed its bank class to a state-chartered bank, no longer a member of the Federal Reserve System. Finally, on May 31, 2024, the bank acquired Main Street Bank Corp. in Wheeling, West Virginia, and subsequently changed its institution name to Main Street Bank Corp.
