HISTORY OF MADISON COUNTY BANK
Madison County Bank was established in 1888 under the name The Madison County Building and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes, including a transition to a mutual savings bank in July 1995, at which time it also changed its name to Madison County Bank, FSB, and its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision. In the years that followed, Madison County Bank acquired The First National Bank of Albion in November 2005 and Winside State Bank in October 2015. A significant restructuring occurred on June 19, 2017, when the bank changed its organization type to a commercial bank, became a state-chartered bank and a member of the Federal Reserve System, and switched its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve. The main office of the bank was relocated to 111 West Third Street in Madison, Nebraska, on June 30, 1996. The institution is currently regulated as a commercial bank and continues to operate in the state.
