Initially named Liberty Bank and Trust Company, it underwent a name change in 1974, solidifying its current identity. Over the years, Liberty Bank has expanded its operations through various acquisitions, significantly increasing its presence in the banking sector. Notable mergers include the acquisition of Life Federal Savings Bank in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on March 25, 1994, and the purchase of Carrollton Homestead Association in New Orleans on April 8, 1994, both occurring during a period of government-assisted mergers. The bank also acquired First American Bank in Jackson, Mississippi, on August 15, 2003. In subsequent years, Liberty Bank continued to grow by purchasing Douglass National Bank in Kansas City, Missouri, on January 25, 2008, and United Bank and Trust Company in New Orleans on April 1, 2009.
