Legends West Bank, originally established as the First National Bank of Lewellen on October 5, 1905, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. On February 26, 1990, the bank relocated its main office to Main Street in Lewellen, Nebraska, where it would continue to operate for many years. On February 27, 2008, the institution underwent a series of transformations, including changing its name to Bank of Lewellen, moving its main office to 302 Main Street in Lewellen, and transitioning its regulatory oversight to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). That same day, the bank changed its classification to a state-chartered bank not affiliated with the Federal Reserve System and withdrew from its membership in the Federal Reserve.
