History Of Landmark Bank

Landmark Bank was established on July 19, 1865, originally operating under the name First National Bank and Trust Company. Throughout its history, the institution underwent several significant transformations. In 1971, it expanded its capabilities by changing its trust powers to full, and subsequently, the main office was relocated several times within Columbia, Missouri, with a notable move to 801 East Broadway on August 18, 1975. The bank changed its name to Landmark Bank, National Association, on April 24, 2009, when it also acquired First National Bank in Mountain View, Missouri, and Landmark Bank, National Association in Ada, Oklahoma. On May 12, 2012, Landmark Bank further expanded by acquiring Bank of Birch Tree in Birch Tree, Missouri. A series of regulatory changes occurred on December 29, 2017, when the bank changed its name to Landmark Bank, switched its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, subsequently becoming a state-chartered bank. Ultimately, on February 15, 2020, Landmark Bank merged with Simmons Bank based in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, marking the end of its independent operations.
