History Of Lake Sunapee Bank

Lake Sunapee Bank was a financial institution that underwent several significant changes throughout its history. Originally established as a savings bank, it transformed into a stock savings bank on March 31, 1986. The bank was renamed to Lake Sunapee Bank, FSB on May 1, 1994. Over the years, Lake Sunapee Bank expanded its operations through a series of acquisitions, including Landmark Bank in Lebanon, New Hampshire in January 1997, New London Trust F.S.B. in New London, New Hampshire in October 1999, and First Brandon National Bank in Brandon, Vermont in June 2007, among others. In July 2011, the institution changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Lake Sunapee Bank further strengthened its market presence by acquiring The Nashua Bank in Nashua, New Hampshire in December 2012 and The Randolph National Bank in Randolph, Vermont in October 2013. Ultimately, on January 14, 2017, Lake Sunapee Bank merged with Bar Harbor Bank & Trust based in Bar Harbor, Maine, concluding its independent operations. The main office of the bank was located in Newport, New Hampshire.
