Lake Federal Bank

Lake Federal Bank was established on January 1, 1956, originally under the name Lake Federal Savings and Loan Association. In 1986, the main office was relocated to 7048 Kennedy Avenue in Hammond, Indiana. The institution underwent a name change on May 31, 1989, becoming Lake Federal Savings and Loan Association of Hammond. Over the years, it experienced several regulatory changes, including a shift to being supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 2011. On December 31, 2014, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and reclassified as an FDIC supervised state savings bank, with its chartering agency changed to state level. By July 1, 2014, Lake Federal transitioned to a mutual savings bank organization type. The bank was rebranded as Lake Federal Bank, FSB on March 16, 2005. Ultimately, on July 1, 2016, Lake Federal Bank merged with First Savings Bank of Hegewisch, based in Chicago, Illinois.
