Kopernik Bank

Kopernik Bank was established on April 4, 1924, originally under the name Kopernik Building and Loan Association. Over the years, it underwent several name changes and significant developments in its organizational structure. In 1989, the institution was renamed Kopernik Federal Savings Association and later became Kopernik Federal Bank in 2000, transitioning to a federal savings bank. In 2015, it changed its name to Kopernik Bank, became regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and adopted the status of an FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank. The bank continued to expand through acquisitions, including Hull Federal Savings Bank in 2012, Kosciuszko Federal Savings Bank in 2015, Liberty Bank of Maryland in 2016, and Saint Casimir's Savings Bank in 2017, all located in Baltimore, Maryland. Ultimately, on February 28, 2019, Kopernik Bank merged with BayVanguard Bank, becoming part of the larger banking institution based in Baltimore, Maryland.
