Jefferson County Bank was established on September 17, 1892, originally serving the banking needs of the local community. Over the years, the institution experienced several changes in operational structure and location. On April 18, 1990, the main office of Jefferson County Bank was moved to Main Street in Daykin, Nebraska. Subsequently, on August 31, 2008, the main office was relocated again to 306 Jefferson Street, also in Daykin, Nebraska. A significant transition occurred on January 5, 2019, when Jefferson County Bank changed its name to Heartland Bank and merged into Heartland Bank, located in Geneva, Nebraska. This merger marked the end of the Jefferson County Bank as an independent entity.
