ICBC USA, formally known as Industrial and Commercial Bank of China USA, National Association, has undergone several significant changes since its establishment. The institution was founded on February 14, 1983, originally named Grand National Bank. Over the years, it experienced multiple name changes and relocations. On August 1, 2002, it was renamed The Bank of East Asia, (U.S.A.), National Association, which was later changed to The Bank of East Asia (USA), National Association on December 5, 2003. That same day, the main office moved to 202 Canal Street in New York, New York. The bank continued to evolve, acquiring National American Bank in San Francisco, California, on May 19, 2006.
