History Of Independence Trust Company
Independence Trust Company was established on January 9, 1997, originally under the name Independence Trust Company of Tennessee, but it did not have Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance at that time. On March 15, 2004, the institution changed its name to Independence Trust Company and became a federally insured savings bank, with the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) as its chartering agency and primary federal regulatory agency. The main office was relocated to 325 Bridge Street, Franklin, Tennessee, on the same date. Subsequently, on July 21, 2011, the primary federal regulatory agency was changed to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. After over a decade of operation, the company voluntarily closed and liquidated its assets on December 31, 2017.
