History Of Independence Bank
Independence Bank is a financial institution that was established on March 12, 1973, originally named First Security Bank of Havre. Over the years, the bank underwent several significant changes and expansions. On August 20, 1997, the institution changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The bank expanded its operations through acquisitions, including the purchase of The Citizens State Bank of Scobey and Traders State Bank of Poplar, both in Montana on June 29, 1998. In December 2000, the institution officially changed its name to Independence Bank. Further relocation efforts included moving the main office to 435 Third Street, Havre, Montana, on July 1, 2010. The bank adopted its current name, Independence Bank, on July 29, 2015.
