Illini Bank

Illini Bank was established on July 5, 1969, under the name First State Bank of Springfield. The bank underwent several name changes and acquisitions throughout its history. It became First State Bank and Trust Company on October 26, 1984, and later changed its name to Illini Bank of Sangamon County on January 1, 1988. In the same year, Illini Bank expanded through the acquisition of multiple financial institutions, including American Bank & Trust Company in Springfield, Mechanicsburg Citizens Bank & Trust Company in Mechanicsburg, Community Bank of Divernon in Divernon, and Auburn Peoples Bank in Auburn. On October 24, 1990, the institution adopted the simplified name Illini Bank. Further growth occurred on November 4, 1993, when Illini Bank acquired Illini Bank - North in Danvers, Illini Bank of Menard County in Petersburg, and Illini Bank-East in Coffeen. The main office was relocated to 3200 West Iles Avenue in Springfield on December 15, 1997. On March 4, 2015, the main office was moved to a new location at the same address of 3200 West Iles Avenue, Springfield. Finally, on June 23, 2017, Illini Bank merged with United Community Bank based in Chatham, Illinois, marking the end of its independent operations.
