History Of Homestead Bank
Homestead Bank is a financial institution that was established in 1905 under the name The Cozad State Bank. The bank underwent a significant name change on October 20, 1972, becoming the Cozad State Bank and Trust Company, and was granted full trust powers on September 1 of the same year. Over the years, Homestead Bank expanded through several acquisitions, including the purchase of the St. Paul National Bank in St. Paul, Nebraska, on July 1, 1996, and First National Bank in Schuyler, Nebraska, on March 1, 2011. The bank also relocated its main office several times, moving to Main Street in Cozad, Nebraska, on April 18, 1990, and later to 915 Meridian in Cozad on August 2, 1993. In October 2009, the institution changed its name to Homestead Bank. The bank’s most recent acquisition was of the First National Bank of Chadron in Chadron, Nebraska, on July 1, 2021.
