HomeStar Bank & Financial Services was originally established as Manteno State Bank on February 23, 1946. The institution underwent several name changes, including becoming Manteno Bank on June 3, 1991, and later, HomeStar Bank on July 1, 1996, following its acquisition of Bradley Bank in Bradley, Illinois. In June 2008, the bank rebranded itself as HomeStar Bank and Financial Services. Over the years, the institution also experienced changes in structure and operations, including a withdrawal from the Federal Reserve System in February 1974 and the limitation of its trust powers in July 1987. The main office moved to its current location at 303 Section Line Road in Manteno, Illinois, on November 22, 1971. Ultimately, on October 19, 2019, HomeStar Bank & Financial Services merged with Midland States Bank, headquartered in Effingham, Illinois.
