Home Savings & Loan Company was established in 1888, originally operating under that name. Over the years, the institution underwent several significant changes. On February 28, 1991, it rebranded itself as The Home Savings and Loan Company of Kenton, Ohio, and relocated its main office to 116 East Franklin Street, Kenton, Ohio 43326. After a series of transformations, on July 21, 2011, the institution changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). On January 1, 2018, it transitioned to a mutual commercial bank and was classified as a state-chartered bank, not a member of the Federal Reserve System. Most recently, on March 2, 2023, the institution adopted the name The Home Savings and Loan Company of Kenton, Ohio, doing business as HSLC.
