History Of Heritage State Bank
Heritage State Bank was established on June 11, 1911, originally under the name Sheldon State Bank in Sheldon, Missouri. The institution underwent a name change to Vernon County Bank on March 15, 1985, and subsequently moved its main office to various locations within Nevada, Missouri, including 1428 West Austin Street on April 8, 1985, and later to 1625 Hedges Plaza on October 3, 1988. On May 19, 1989, Heritage State Bank acquired Farmers Bank of Walker in Walker, Missouri. The bank officially changed its name to Heritage State Bank on April 3, 1992. After nearly three decades of operation under this name, Heritage State Bank merged with Community National Bank & Trust on June 2, 2018, which is based in Chanute, Kansas.
