History Of Heritage Southeast Bank
Heritage Southeast Bank was established in 1955 under the name Clayton County Federal Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution evolved, changing its organization type from a Stock Savings and Loan to a Stock Savings Bank in 1995, and then to a Commercial Bank in 1998. During this period, Heritage Bank was also designated with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as its primary federal regulatory agency. On February 4, 1997, the institution changed its name to Heritage Bank. In September 2019, the bank underwent significant expansion by acquiring Providence Bank in Alpharetta, Georgia, and The Heritage Bank in Hinesville, Georgia, on the same date. Subsequently, it adopted the name Heritage Southeast Bank. However, on January 1, 2023, Heritage Southeast Bank merged with The First Bank, headquartered in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, marking the end of its independent operations.
