History Of Heritage First Bank

Heritage First Bank was established in 1972 and became insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on July 12 of that year. Over the years, the bank underwent several changes in regulatory oversight and location. In 2001, the institution's name was officially changed to Heritage First Bank, Incorporated. Subsequently, in December 2002, the bank adopted its current name, Heritage First Bank, while also altering its organizational structure to a federal savings bank, with the Office of Thrift Supervision as its chartering agency. The main office of the bank moved multiple times, including to Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome, Georgia, in 2002 and to Broad Street in Rome in 2015 and again in 2018. On March 19, 2018, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the FDIC and restructured as a state-chartered bank. After years of operation, Heritage First Bank merged with First National Community Bank in Chatsworth, Georgia, on July 1, 2021, marking the end of its independent existence.
