History Of Heritage Bank
Heritage Bank, originally established as Heritage Federal Savings and Loan Association in 1927, has undergone several name and structural changes throughout its history. In 1990, the institution transitioned to Heritage Bank, A Federal Savings Bank and became a mutual savings bank. The name was simplified further to Heritage Bank in October 1993, coinciding with a shift to a state-chartered institution regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Over the following years, Heritage Bank evolved into a stock savings bank in February 1994 and moved its main office to Olympia, Washington, in December of that year. The bank changed its organization type to a commercial bank and adopted its current name in September 2004. Heritage Bank expanded significantly through acquisitions, notably including the purchase of North Pacific Bank in Tacoma, Washington, in 1998, and various other banks between 2010 and 2018 across Washington and Oregon, such as The Cowlitz Bank, Puget Sound Bank, and Premier Community Bank. In 2020, Heritage Bank ceased all trust powers.
