History Of Heartland State Bank
Heartland State Bank, originally established as The Security National Bank of Edgeley in 1921, has undergone several name and regulatory changes throughout its history. On July 31, 1992, the institution changed its name to Security State Bank of Edgeley and subsequently withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, transitioning its primary regulatory authority to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). It remained under this new name until June 23, 2001, when it acquired Kulm State Bank and rebranded as Heartland State Bank. The bank moved its main office to 401 Main Street, Edgeley, North Dakota, on June 1, 2010. After a subsequent membership in the Federal Reserve System that began on January 26, 1993, Heartland State Bank officially withdrew from the Federal Reserve on July 31, 2024, changing its regulatory oversight to the FDIC and its classification to a state-chartered bank, not a member of the Federal Reserve System.
