History Of Heartland Bank

Heartland Bank was established on January 1, 1887, originally named Economy Federal Savings and Loan Association of St. Louis. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and reorganizations. In 1986, it changed its organization type to a stock savings and loan and moved its main office to 312 North Sixth Street in St. Louis, Missouri. The bank became Heartland Savings Bank, FSB in August 1987 and subsequently acquired The Gravois Home Savings and Loan Association of St. Louis in December 1987. On March 9, 1995, it changed its name to Heartland Bank. The main office then moved to Clayton, Missouri, on June 28, 1996, and later relocated to two different sites in Saint Louis, Missouri, on June 17, 2002, and April 1, 2004. On July 21, 2011, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Ultimately, Heartland Bank was merged into Midland States Bank on March 31, 2015, in Effingham, Illinois.
