HISTORY OF HAWTHORN BANK
Hawthorn Bank, based in Clinton, Missouri, has a rich history that dates back to its establishment as the Farmers' Bank of Deepwater on January 1, 1911. The institution underwent several name changes over the decades, reflecting its evolving identity and operations. On February 5, 1945, it changed its name to Farmers' Bank of Clinton. Subsequently, it became Charter Bank of Clinton on December 13, 1979, and then Charter Bank Clinton on February 1, 1980. The bank was renamed Boatmen's Bank of Clinton on January 28, 1985. A significant transformation occurred in 1988 when it acquired Union State Bank of Clinton, leading to a name change to Union State Bank of Clinton on the same day, April 21. That year also marked the relocation of its main office to 102 North Second Street in Clinton, Missouri. In 1989, the bank adopted the name Union State Bank and Trust of Clinton. Further expansion took place in 2000 with the acquisition of Citizens State Bank of Calhoun and subsequent renaming to Citizens Union State Bank And Trust on May 5.
