Harvard Savings Bank was established on June 1, 1934, originally operating under the name Harvard Federal Savings and Loan Association. Throughout its history, the institution underwent several significant changes. On January 22, 1997, it changed its name to Harvard Savings Bank and transitioned its organization type to a mutual savings bank, while also becoming regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The main office was relocated to 58 North Ayer Street in Harvard, Illinois, on November 25, 2014. On April 19, 2008, Harvard Savings Bank acquired Morris Building and Loan, S.B., located in Morris, Illinois. The bank eventually merged with State Bank in Wonder Lake, Illinois, on August 1, 2016. In a further evolution of its identity, Harvard Savings Bank changed its name to First Secure State Bank on April 1, 2024.
