History Of Hampden Bank

Hampden Bank was established on April 13, 1852, originally under the name Hampden Savings Bank. It operated without FDIC insurance until December 19, 1985, when it became FDIC insured. On March 22, 1975, the institution changed its name to Hampden Savings Bank. Later, on June 1, 2004, it transitioned to a stock savings bank structure and rebranded itself as Hampden Bank. The bank continued to operate until it merged with Berkshire Bank in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on April 18, 2015. This merger marked the end of Hampden Bank as an independent banking institution.
