Guardian Savings Bank is a mutual savings bank located in Granite City, Illinois, that was established on January 1, 1919, under the original name State Loan and Savings Association. Over the decades, the institution underwent several name changes, with a significant transition occurring on January 9, 1990, when it became Guardian Savings Bank Fsb. This was followed shortly by a simplified renaming to Guardian Savings Bank on April 1, 1990. The bank's regulatory oversight has also evolved; it changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) on July 6, 1989. In subsequent years, it transitioned to being federally and state supervised, culminating in its designation as an FDIC Supervised State Savings Bank on June 30, 2014.
