Guaranty Bank

Guaranty Bank was established on January 1, 1923, originally named Guaranty Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and organizational structure modifications. It became Guaranty Bank for Savings, Savings Association on April 30, 1989, and later changed its name to Guaranty Bank for Savings, S.s.b. on October 31, 1990. The bank shifted its regulatory oversight to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on October 1, 1992, and changed its organizational type to Mutual Savings Bank. In subsequent years, Guaranty Bank continued to evolve, becoming a Stock Savings Bank on June 16, 1993, and relocating its main office multiple times within Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with significant moves occurring in 1990 and 2013. On June 3, 2002, it adopted the name Guaranty Bank and transitioned to a Federal Savings Bank under the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS). The regulatory agency later changed to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on July 21, 2011. However, the bank faced financial difficulties and ultimately failed on May 5, 2017, merging with government financial assistance.
