Great Lakes Bankers Bank was established on May 23, 1983, originally under the name Independent State Bank of Ohio. Throughout its early years, the bank underwent several relocations for its main office, moving first to Columbus, Ohio, on September 23, 1991, then to Gahanna, Ohio, on February 1, 1997. On April 21, 2000, the institution changed its name to Great Lakes Bankers Bank. The bank relocated again to Worthington, Ohio, on August 30, 2010. On July 23, 2016, Great Lakes Bankers Bank merged with United Bankers' Bank, based in Bloomington, Minnesota, marking the end of its independent operations.
