HISTORY OF GRANITE SAVINGS BANK

Granite Savings Bank was established on March 21, 1884, originally operating without Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance. The institution underwent several changes over the years, including a name change to Granite Savings Bank on October 19, 1970. The main office of the bank was moved to 26 Broadway in Rockport, Massachusetts, on the same date. On January 16, 1986, Granite Savings Bank became FDIC insured and moved its main office again to 26 Broadway Street in Rockport, where it remained until June 29, 2009, when it relocated to 247 Main Street in Rockport. Ultimately, Granite Savings Bank merged with Cape Ann Savings Bank in Gloucester, Massachusetts, on January 17, 2015, concluding its history as an independent financial institution.
