Golden Belt Bank was established on January 1, 1920, originally named Golden Belt Savings and Loan Association. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and regulatory transitions. On May 31, 1989, it became known as Golden Belt Building and Savings. In 1993, the bank changed its name to Golden Belt Bank, FSA, and also transitioned its chartering and primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS). Subsequently, on July 21, 2011, the bank changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. In a significant development in its history, Golden Belt Bank acquired Morgan Federal Bank in Fort Morgan, Colorado, on October 2, 2017.
