GNBank, National Association, was established on July 1, 1929, originally named The Girard National Bank. Over the years, the institution has undergone significant changes and expansions through a series of acquisitions and name changes. In August 1986, it acquired The State Exchange Bank in Yates Center, Kansas, and subsequently relocated its main office to Main Street in Girard, Kansas. The bank continued its growth in the 1990s, acquiring The Farmers State Bank in Offerle, Kansas, and The Bucklin State Bank in Bucklin, Kansas, on January 3, 1995. On the same day, it also moved its main office to 100 North Summit in Girard, Kansas. In February 2002, GNBank expanded further by acquiring Kansas State Bank in Holton, Kansas. The bank continued to grow through additional acquisitions, including Valley State Bank in Lamar, Colorado, in September 2006, and University Bank in Pittsburg, Kansas, in October 2015. On July 2, 2018, it officially changed its name to GNBank, National Association. Most recently, on April 2, 2019, GNBank acquired The First National Bank of Girard in Girard, Kansas. We were their customers so long, we had a mortgage with them, when we were trying to sell our properties but they didn't want to release our mortgage if even we want to pay off the mortgage!
