History Of German American Bank

German American Bank was established on November 10, 1910, originally under the name The German American Bank. The institution underwent its first name change on June 11, 1973, becoming known simply as The German American Bank. Over the years, the bank expanded through a series of acquisitions, including the Bank of Ireland in Ireland, Indiana, in May 1986, and The Holland National Bank in Holland, Indiana, in October 2000. A significant transformation occurred on September 30, 2006, when the bank changed its name to German American Bancorp and simultaneously acquired several institutions, including Stone City Bank of Bedford, Indiana, and Peoples Bank in Washington, Indiana. Further expansion continued with the acquisitions of Bank of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana, in January 2011, and United Commerce Bank in Bloomington, Indiana, in October 2013. The most recent major acquisition took place on March 1, 2016, when German American Bancorp acquired River Valley Financial Bank in Madison, Indiana.

Branch review: Hanover Branch

I visit the Hanover Indiana branch at least 3 times a week and have been for years. Everyone has been extremely nice except for today. I was unlucky enough to have to deal with Theresa Smith. Rude old witch if you want my opinion. I was on the phone with a business acquaintance and he heard her. He couldn't believe someone at a bank would talk to their customer that way. Branch review: Bedford Branch

Horrible experience. Paige at the Bedford German American Bank location was not helpful in the least. My eight year old would have been more helpful. She had me walk out across the parking lot to the ATM (because they don't have one in the lobby) to get money to pay my sewer bill because my license is from out of state, where we still have property.
