History Of FNBT Bank
FNBT Bank, originally established as Southern National Bank of Fort Walton Beach on April 9, 1956, has undergone several name and regulatory changes throughout its history. The institution was initially known as First National Bank of Fort Walton Beach following a name change on February 15, 1965. It subsequently became the First National Bank of Okaloosa County on June 7, 1977, and then reverted to First National Bank and Trust on December 2, 1985, which included the expansion of its trust powers to full status. In 1980, the main office was relocated to 29 North Eglin Parkway, Northeast, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. On June 22, 2009, the bank changed its name to Fnbt.com Bank and transitioned its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), while becoming a state-chartered bank not a member of the Federal Reserve System. The bank adopted its current name, FNBT Bank, on August 17, 2015.
