History Of FNB Bank

FNB Bank, originally established as The First National Bank of Scottsboro in 1907, has undergone several name changes and expansions throughout its history. In 1969, the institution was renamed to The First National Bank, before rebranding once again to FNB Bank on June 26, 2007. This date marked significant regulatory changes as well, including a withdrawal from the Federal Reserve System and a change to a state-chartered bank regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Over the years, FNB Bank expanded its operations through various acquisitions, including the purchase of Northeast State Bank of Alabama in 1986, Peoples State Bank of Commerce in Nolensville, Tennessee, in 2017, and Capital Bank in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, in 2018. Ultimately, on May 1, 2021, FNB Bank merged with BancorpSouth Bank located in Tupelo, Mississippi. Following this merger, the institution officially changed its name to Cadence Bank on October 29, 2021, signifying its new identity within the banking sector.
