History Of F&M Bank
F&M Bank, originally established in 1902 as Farmers and Merchants Bank, has undergone several name changes and structural transformations throughout its history. The institution changed its name to Farmers & Merchants Bank in March 2006. In August 2005, it transitioned to a state-chartered bank, withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System, and subsequently changed its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The bank's name was officially changed to F & M Bank in October 2011, following the acquisition of F & M Bank, National Association, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This acquisition was part of a broader restructuring effort, including the government-assisted merger with First Capital Bank in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, in June 2012. Notably, the main office was relocated to 17100 North May Avenue, Edmond, Oklahoma, around the same time as the name change in October 2011. Prior to its most recent acquisitions, F&M Bank expanded its operations by acquiring The Bank of Crescent in June 1995, marking its growth within the regional banking sector.
