History Of F&M Bank
F&M Bank, originally established as The Farmers & Merchants National Bank of West Point on January 1, 1931, is a financial institution based in Nebraska. The bank underwent a series of name changes and structural adjustments throughout its history. On July 31, 2007, it was renamed F & M Bank, National Association. In a significant transition on June 1, 2010, the institution changed its name to F&M Bank, withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, and shifted its primary regulatory oversight to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). This transition also included a change in bank classification to a state-chartered bank. On September 25, 2010, F&M Bank expanded its operations by acquiring Farmers & Merchants State Bank of Wayne and Dakota County State Bank, both located in Nebraska. In addition, the bank moved its main office to Main Street in West Point, Nebraska, on February 27, 1990.
