Flathead Bank was established on March 15, 1971, originally operating under the name Flathead Bank of Bigfork, Montana. Over the years, it underwent several changes in location, moving its main office to 800 Grand Avenue in Bigfork, Montana, in 1980. On August 18, 2010, the bank relocated its main office to 120 Hutton Ranch Road in Kalispell, Montana. In a strategic expansion effort, Flathead Bank acquired Valley Bank of Belgrade in Belgrade, Montana, on January 1, 2003. The bank returned to Bigfork, moving its main office back to 800 Grand Avenue on May 9, 2012. Ultimately, Flathead Bank merged with First Interstate Bank in Billings, Montana, on August 13, 2016, marking the end of its independent operations.
