Flat Branch Bank, originally established as Hardin State Bank on July 1, 1940, has undergone several name changes and relocations throughout its history. On January 22, 1982, the institution changed its name to Ray County Bank, followed by a move of its main office to Highway 13 South and South Street in Richmond, Missouri. Later that year, on September 30, 1993, the main office was relocated again to 803 Wollard Boulevard in Richmond. The bank's name changed to The State Bank on April 29, 1996.
