FirstOak Bank, originally established as The First National Bank of Elk City in 1881, has undergone several significant changes throughout its history. In 1984, the bank's main office was relocated to 113 North Penn in Independence, Kansas, and it was renamed First National Bank, Independence, Kansas. In 2013, the institution rebranded itself to FirstBank of Independence and transitioned to a State Chartered Bank, becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System. Additionally, the bank's primary federal regulatory agency was changed to the Federal Reserve on the same date. On July 8, 2013, the bank adopted the name FirstOak Bank.
