History Of FirstBank Southwest
FirstBank Southwest is a financial institution based in Amarillo, Texas, established on January 1, 1907, originally as The First National Bank of Perryton. Over the years, the bank underwent a series of name changes and expansions. In 1986, it acquired First Bank & Trust Co. in Booker, Texas, further increasing its presence in the region. In 1995, the bank adopted the name FirstBank Southwest, National Association, following several acquisitions, including The First National Bank of Hereford and Citizens Bank and Trust Company in Pampa, Texas. That same year, its main office moved to 2201 Civic Circle in Amarillo. The institution transitioned to a state-chartered bank and changed its primary federal regulatory agency several times, first becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System in October 2005 and subsequently withdrawing from it later that month. On January 6, 2006, FirstBank Southwest acquired Western National Bank in Amarillo, solidifying its position within the region's banking sector.
