History Of FirstBank
FirstBank, originally established as First Westland National Bank on February 27, 1963, has undergone several name changes and regulatory shifts throughout its history. In 1978, it changed its name to FirstBank of Westland, National Association, and received full trust powers. The bank was later renamed FirstBank of Colorado on March 30, 1998, when it also transitioned to state chartering and withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System, subsequently becoming regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. On October 18, 2010, FirstBank made significant changes by becoming a member of the Federal Reserve System again and changing its regulatory agency back to the Federal Reserve. The same day marked the bank's rebranding to simply FirstBank. In a series of acquisitions during October 2010, FirstBank expanded its footprint by acquiring multiple banks across Colorado, including locations in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Lakewood. Notably, FirstBank also acquired FirstBank of Arizona, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona on May 21, 2011, further enhancing its presence in the southwestern United States.
