The institution changed its trust powers to full on March 18, 2004. Over the years, it expanded through several acquisitions, starting with Poudre River Valley Trust Company in Fort Collins, Colorado, on March 2, 2005. First Western Trust Bank later moved its main office to 1200 Seventeenth Street in Denver on June 8, 2004, and subsequently relocated again to 1900 16th Street, Suite 1200 in Denver on April 22, 2013.
