History Of First Western Bank & Trust
First Western Bank & Trust, established on May 11, 1964, under the name First Western State Bank of Minot in Minot, North Dakota, has undergone several name changes and expansions throughout its history. On March 29, 1966, the institution transitioned to a state-chartered bank and became a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In 1972, the bank relocated its main office to 900 South Broadway in Minot and subsequently changed its name to First Western State Bank of Minot. It adopted full trust powers on July 17, 1973, and changed its name again to First Western Bank of Minot in 1982. The institution rebranded as First Western Bank & Trust in 1989. Over the years, First Western Bank & Trust has expanded through various acquisitions, including First Western Bank & Trust in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, on August 6, 2011; BlackRidgeBANK in Fargo, North Dakota, on November 13, 2020; and most recently, State Bank of Lismore in Lismore, Minnesota, on December 1, 2023.
