HISTORY OF FIRST STATE BANK
First State Bank was established on January 1, 1941, under the original name Wilmot State Bank. Over the years, the institution underwent several changes in its operations and location. On September 30, 1989, the bank's main office was relocated to Main Street in Wilmot, South Dakota. Subsequently, in 2004, it officially changed its name to First State Bank. The main office moved again on March 31, 2006, to 707 Main Street, Wilmot, South Dakota, and later to 709 Main Street in the same town on September 18, 2013. The history of First State Bank concluded when it merged with Minnwest Bank on November 16, 2018, becoming part of this larger banking institution in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
