History Of First State Bank
First State Bank was established in 1900 as The First National Bank of Sumner. Over the years, the institution underwent several significant changes. On February 27, 1990, its main office was moved to 106 West First Street in Sumner, Iowa. On June 28, 1993, the bank changed its name to First State Bank and transitioned its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), while also withdrawing from membership in the Federal Reserve System. The main office was relocated again on October 8, 2012, to 1150 West 1st Street in Sumner. The bank continued to operate until March 26, 2021, when it merged with Northeast Security Bank, also based in Sumner, Iowa.
