History Of First State Bank of Uvalde
The First State Bank of Uvalde was established on July 6, 1907, originally operating under that name. Over the decades, the institution underwent several regulatory and structural changes. On April 14, 1945, the bank became a member of the Federal Reserve System and changed its primary regulatory agency to the Federal Reserve, also restructuring as a state-chartered bank. However, on November 29, 1961, it withdrew from membership in the Federal Reserve System and shifted its primary federal regulatory agency to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), changing its classification to a state-chartered bank not affiliated with the Federal Reserve. The bank's main office relocated to 200 East Nopal Street in Uvalde, Texas, on November 15, 1969. More recently, on December 19, 2006, the First State Bank of Uvalde acquired the Bank of Frio Canyon located in Leakey, Texas.
