First State Bank of the Southeast, Inc. is a financial institution based in Middlesboro, Kentucky, originally established on January 4, 1904, as The National Bank. Over the years, the bank underwent several name changes and relocations. In 1981, it became The City & County Bank of Bell County, Kentucky, subsequently rebranding to The Bank of Middlesborough in 1983. During this period, the bank acquired The First State Bank of Pineville and changed its name to The First State Bank of Pineville. In 2004, it acquired First State Financial, Inc. in Lexington, Kentucky, and adopted the name First State Bank of the Southeast, Inc. The bank moved its main office multiple times, with significant relocations occurring in 1989, 2010, and 2015, before settling at 1820 Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky, on July 15, 2020.
