History Of First State Bank of Randolph County
First State Bank of Randolph County, originally established as First National Bank of Shellman on October 3, 1900, has undergone several name changes and relocations throughout its history. On January 9, 1959, the institution changed its name to First State Bank and transitioned to a state-chartered bank, withdrawing from the Federal Reserve System and becoming regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The main office was relocated from Shellman, Georgia, where it was initially situated at 121 Railroad Street, to 304 Court Street in Cuthbert, Georgia, on August 19, 1974, at which time the institution was renamed First State Bank of Randolph County. Subsequently, the bank moved its main office again to 81 Court Street in Cuthbert on March 31, 2006.
